UTIs are extremely common
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections — and they disproportionately affect women. Most can be cleared with standard antibiotics, but a growing percentage are becoming drug-resistant, meaning the bacteria no longer respond to commonly prescribed treatments.
For women experiencing recurring UTIs, the cycle of repeat infection and antibiotic treatment can be exhausting — and increasingly ineffective as resistance builds. This is exactly the gap the ELIMINATE trial is designed to address.
When standard antibiotics stop working
Drug-resistant UTIs occur when the bacteria causing the infection no longer respond to commonly prescribed antibiotics. This is a growing concern — both for the women experiencing them and for medicine as a whole. New approaches are urgently needed, and the ELIMINATE trial is evaluating one of them.
The ELIMINATE clinical trial
The ELIMINATE trial is evaluating whether a new innovative treatment is safe and effective in treating drug-resistant UTIs. The study is designed for women who have experienced at least one UTI in the past year, with participation spanning approximately 6 months. By taking part, you may help advance a much-needed new option for women living with recurrent or treatment-resistant infections.

Led by Dr. Lamia Gabal, MD, FPMRS
Dr. Gabal serves as the principal investigator for the Locus ELIMINATE trial at Prestige Medical Group. Board-certified in urology with a subspecialty in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, she brings deep expertise in treating women’s urological conditions — including recurrent UTIs — to her oversight of study participants.
