A middle ground between non-invasive and surgical
Aviva® by InMode is a minimally invasive radiofrequency (RF) treatment that delivers energy beneath the tissue surface for more significant remodeling than surface-only treatments — typically as a single procedure under local anesthesia. Designed for women who want more than non-invasive treatments can offer, but who aren’t ready for surgery.
What is Aviva?
Aviva® is InMode’s most intensive intravaginal RF treatment. Unlike surface-based treatments that heat tissue from the outside in, Aviva uses a small cannula to deliver bipolar RF energy from beneath the tissue surface — allowing for more precise, targeted energy placement and more significant tissue remodeling than non-invasive alternatives can achieve.
Because Aviva involves small access points and works below the tissue surface, it’s classified as minimally invasive — a middle ground between the fully non-invasive treatments (like FormaV and Morpheus8V) and surgical vaginal rejuvenation. It is typically performed as a single procedure under local anesthesia in our office.
Aviva may be right for you if…
Aviva is generally considered by women with more significant concerns — cases where non-invasive treatments alone may not deliver enough tissue change, but where surgical options feel like too much.
Significant tissue laxity
If you’re experiencing notable changes in tissue tone or appearance — often after childbirth, weight fluctuations, or menopause — Aviva may deliver more meaningful change than surface-only treatments.
A step up from non-invasive care
Some women try non-invasive RF treatments first and want a more definitive result. Aviva may be a natural next step when surface RF alone hasn’t fully met your goals.
Not ready for surgery
If you’re considering vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty but not ready for a surgical commitment, Aviva may offer a meaningful middle-ground option to discuss with your provider.
Single-treatment preference
Some patients prefer a single, more concentrated treatment over multiple sessions. Aviva is typically performed once, rather than as a series.
How subdermal RF works
During treatment, a very small access point is created to allow a thin cannula to be positioned in the tissue. The cannula delivers bipolar radiofrequency energy from within the tissue itself — heating the target area from beneath the surface with precise, real-time temperature monitoring to keep the treatment safe.
In the days and weeks after, the body responds to this controlled heating by remodeling collagen and elastin — the structural proteins that give tissue tone and quality. Because Aviva reaches tissue that surface treatments can’t, it’s designed to deliver more significant tissue change with a single procedure.
How Aviva is performed
Aviva is performed in our office by trained clinical staff in a private, comfortable setting.
Numbing & setup
Local anesthesia is administered to numb the treatment area before the procedure begins.
Cannula placement
A small access point is made and the thin RF cannula is gently positioned in the tissue.
RF treatment
Bipolar RF energy is delivered from within the tissue with real-time temperature monitoring.
Aftercare guidance
You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions and a follow-up plan for the days and weeks ahead.
Aviva is a procedure, not a light treatment
Because Aviva involves small access points and works beneath the tissue surface, it is classified as minimally invasive. You’ll be given local anesthesia to keep you comfortable, and some patients may choose to add light oral sedation as discussed with your provider.
If sedation is used, you’ll need to arrange for transportation home. Your provider will review all pre-procedure instructions — including medication guidance and preparation — during your consultation.
Some downtime is part of the plan
Unlike the fully non-invasive InMode treatments, Aviva involves real recovery. Most patients experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness for several days, with lighter symptoms continuing for up to a week or two. Most patients return to light activities within a few days and work within about a week — though individual recovery varies.
Your provider will give you specific guidance about activity restrictions, intimacy timing, and the follow-up schedule. Results continue to develop over weeks and months as the body’s natural collagen remodeling process progresses — often with continued improvement even months after the procedure.

When surgery may still be the right choice
Aviva delivers more significant tissue change than non-invasive treatments — but it is not equivalent to surgical vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty. For more advanced concerns, especially those involving significant anatomical changes or more extensive external tissue, a surgical option may be more appropriate.
During consultation, Dr. Gabal will help you understand what’s realistic with Aviva and whether a surgical option like labiaplasty would better serve your specific goals. There’s no obligation — the goal is finding the right approach for you.
