A middle ground between non-invasive and surgical

Aviva® by InMode is a minimally invasive radiofrequency (RF) treatment that delivers energy beneath the tissue surface for more significant remodeling than surface-only treatments — typically as a single procedure under local anesthesia. Designed for women who want more than non-invasive treatments can offer, but who aren’t ready for surgery.

What it is

What is Aviva?

Aviva® is InMode’s most intensive intravaginal RF treatment. Unlike surface-based treatments that heat tissue from the outside in, Aviva uses a small cannula to deliver bipolar RF energy from beneath the tissue surface — allowing for more precise, targeted energy placement and more significant tissue remodeling than non-invasive alternatives can achieve.

Because Aviva involves small access points and works below the tissue surface, it’s classified as minimally invasive — a middle ground between the fully non-invasive treatments (like FormaV and Morpheus8V) and surgical vaginal rejuvenation. It is typically performed as a single procedure under local anesthesia in our office.

Who Aviva May Help

Aviva may be right for you if…

Aviva is generally considered by women with more significant concerns — cases where non-invasive treatments alone may not deliver enough tissue change, but where surgical options feel like too much.

Significant tissue laxity

If you’re experiencing notable changes in tissue tone or appearance — often after childbirth, weight fluctuations, or menopause — Aviva may deliver more meaningful change than surface-only treatments.

A step up from non-invasive care

Some women try non-invasive RF treatments first and want a more definitive result. Aviva may be a natural next step when surface RF alone hasn’t fully met your goals.

Not ready for surgery

If you’re considering vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty but not ready for a surgical commitment, Aviva may offer a meaningful middle-ground option to discuss with your provider.

Single-treatment preference

Some patients prefer a single, more concentrated treatment over multiple sessions. Aviva is typically performed once, rather than as a series.

The Technology

How subdermal RF works

During treatment, a very small access point is created to allow a thin cannula to be positioned in the tissue. The cannula delivers bipolar radiofrequency energy from within the tissue itself — heating the target area from beneath the surface with precise, real-time temperature monitoring to keep the treatment safe.

In the days and weeks after, the body responds to this controlled heating by remodeling collagen and elastin — the structural proteins that give tissue tone and quality. Because Aviva reaches tissue that surface treatments can’t, it’s designed to deliver more significant tissue change with a single procedure.

The Procedure

How Aviva is performed

Aviva is performed in our office by trained clinical staff in a private, comfortable setting.

01

Numbing & setup

Local anesthesia is administered to numb the treatment area before the procedure begins.

02

Cannula placement

A small access point is made and the thin RF cannula is gently positioned in the tissue.

03

RF treatment

Bipolar RF energy is delivered from within the tissue with real-time temperature monitoring.

04

Aftercare guidance

You’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions and a follow-up plan for the days and weeks ahead.

Important to Know

Aviva is a procedure, not a light treatment

Because Aviva involves small access points and works beneath the tissue surface, it is classified as minimally invasive. You’ll be given local anesthesia to keep you comfortable, and some patients may choose to add light oral sedation as discussed with your provider.

If sedation is used, you’ll need to arrange for transportation home. Your provider will review all pre-procedure instructions — including medication guidance and preparation — during your consultation.

Realistic Recovery

Some downtime is part of the plan

Unlike the fully non-invasive InMode treatments, Aviva involves real recovery. Most patients experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness for several days, with lighter symptoms continuing for up to a week or two. Most patients return to light activities within a few days and work within about a week — though individual recovery varies.

Your provider will give you specific guidance about activity restrictions, intimacy timing, and the follow-up schedule. Results continue to develop over weeks and months as the body’s natural collagen remodeling process progresses — often with continued improvement even months after the procedure.

The InMode Feminine Wellness Ladder

Four treatments. Different intensities.

Aviva sits at the most intensive end of our InMode feminine wellness lineup — each treatment addresses different concerns and different levels of tissue change.

An Honest Conversation

When surgery may still be the right choice

Aviva delivers more significant tissue change than non-invasive treatments — but it is not equivalent to surgical vaginal rejuvenation or labiaplasty. For more advanced concerns, especially those involving significant anatomical changes or more extensive external tissue, a surgical option may be more appropriate.

During consultation, Dr. Gabal will help you understand what’s realistic with Aviva and whether a surgical option like labiaplasty would better serve your specific goals. There’s no obligation — the goal is finding the right approach for you.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

How is Aviva different from FormaV and Morpheus8V?
All three use InMode RF energy, but they differ in how deep the energy reaches and how invasive the treatment is. FormaV warms the surface tissue non-invasively. Morpheus8V uses pin applicators to reach deeper tissue with minimal invasiveness. Aviva uses a small cannula to deliver RF from beneath the tissue surface — the most intensive of the three, and the only one classified as minimally invasive with real recovery time.
Is Aviva painful?
Local anesthesia is administered to numb the treatment area, so patients are comfortable during the procedure itself. Some soreness and tenderness are typical during the recovery period. Some patients also choose to add light oral sedation for additional comfort — this is discussed with your provider.
How long is the recovery?
Most patients experience swelling, bruising, and tenderness for several days, with lighter symptoms up to a week or two. Most return to light activities within a few days and work within about a week. Your provider will give you specific guidance about activity restrictions, intimacy timing, and the follow-up schedule. Individual recovery varies.
How many Aviva treatments will I need?
Aviva is typically a single-treatment procedure — unlike the series-based approach of FormaV or Morpheus8V. Because it delivers more concentrated RF energy in one session, most patients need just one treatment. Your provider will discuss whether that’s realistic for your specific goals.
When will I see results?
Because Aviva works by stimulating natural collagen and elastin remodeling, results develop gradually over weeks and months — with continued improvement often seen for months after treatment. This gradual timeline is a normal part of the tissue-healing process.
How is Aviva different from surgical vaginal rejuvenation?
Aviva delivers RF energy through a small cannula — no scalpel, no sutures, no external scarring. Surgical vaginal rejuvenation and labiaplasty involve tissue removal or reshaping and are more definitive for anatomical concerns. Aviva is a good option for women who want meaningful tissue change without surgery — but it’s not a substitute for surgery when surgery is what’s medically indicated.
Is Aviva right for everyone?
No. Aviva is not appropriate for pregnancy, certain medical conditions, and some tissue conditions. During consultation, Dr. Gabal will evaluate whether Aviva is a good fit for you — and if not, help you understand what alternatives (surgical or non-invasive) may be a better match for your goals and situation.
