Mini Arc Suburethral Sling · Tustin, CA

A small mesh hammock, lasting SUI relief

The Mini Arc Suburethral Sling is a 30-minute outpatient surgery that places a small mesh hammock under the urethra to provide lasting support for women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Most women feel back to normal in about one week — yet receive support designed to last.

What it is

A targeted surgical solution for SUI

The Mini Arc Suburethral Sling is performed for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) — that frustrating leakage that happens when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise. It can also be performed in conjunction with cystocele repair to prevent SUI from developing alongside prolapse.

The procedure works by placing a small mesh hammock under the urethra, restoring the support that was lost — and re-establishing the natural closing mechanism that prevents leaks during everyday pressure moments.

A short educational overview of how the Mini Arc Suburethral Sling is placed.

The Surgical Approach

How the procedure is performed

A four-step placement

The entire procedure is performed through the vagina with no abdominal incisions, taking approximately 30 minutes from start to finish.

1
Position & prep

Under general anesthesia, you’ll be placed in the lithotomy position (legs in stirrups).

2
Small incision

A small incision is made in the vagina under the urethra, and a tunnel is gently created.

3
Sling placed

A small mesh hammock is placed under the urethra to provide lasting support.

4
Closed up

Vaginal tissue is closed with dissolvable stitches — no removal needed.

Important to Know

Outpatient — but still surgery

When performed alone, the Mini Arc sling is an outpatient procedure — you go home the same day. No special preparation is required, but you will need general anesthesia, so plan for fasting and a driver.

If the procedure is performed alongside cystocele repair or another surgery, your provider will discuss any modified plan with you in advance.

Recovery Detail

An overnight catheter — you’ll remove it yourself

After surgery, you’ll go home with a catheter draining your bladder overnight to give the tissue time to settle. This is a normal, time-limited part of recovery.

The next morning, you’ll remove the catheter yourself following the simple instructions provided. Most patients find this straightforward — and a relief compared to needing a follow-up visit just for removal.

Recovery

A short return to normal

~1 week

to feel back to normal

Most women feel back to their normal selves about one week after surgery — though six weeks of activity restrictions still apply while the tissue fully heals around the sling.

For 6 Weeks After Surgery

Following these restrictions protects your repair

No lifting over 20 pounds — protects the surgical repair while it heals
No straining — including heavy bowel movements; ask about stool softeners
No sexual activity during the six-week recovery period
No tampons for the full six weeks
