When should I start prostate cancer screening?
Most men should begin discussing PSA testing and digital rectal exams with their provider at age 50. Men at higher risk — including African American men and those with a father or brother diagnosed before age 65 — are advised to start screening conversations at age 40. Screening frequency is individualized based on your risk factors and prior results.
What happens if my PSA is elevated?
An elevated or rising PSA doesn’t automatically mean cancer — infection, an enlarged prostate (BPH), and other factors can raise PSA too. Your provider will evaluate your results in context and may recommend repeat testing, imaging, or a TRUS-guided biopsy to get a definitive answer.
What treatment options are available at Prestige Medical Group?
